Make cloud and technology spending a decision, not a surprise.

I help businesses whose technology bill keeps growing without an owner build the visibility and accountability to understand what they spend and what it returns.

Where the problem shows up

Technology spending usually grows in the background. Engineering teams optimise for performance and delivery speed, finance teams receive the invoice, and leadership sees an aggregate number. Each group sees a part of the cost and assumes another group is watching the rest.

That arrangement leaves the spending unexamined. Finance sees the amount without the architecture behind it, engineers see the architecture without the cost, and nobody owns the question of whether the spending is justified. What happens to a technology budget when every new service adds cost and no one is accountable for removing the old ones? And how can leadership judge whether the spending is appropriate when the invoice cannot be traced to a purpose?

The better principle is to make technology costs visible, attributable and connected to business outcomes, with clear ownership. That is the work I do, and my background in accounting and financial systems applies directly to it.

What I have changed for others

26 ledgers: a financial control framework that makes exceptions visible

A group of 26 companies had inconsistent month-end processes, delayed reconciliations and unexplained balances. I designed a standardised accounting operating model with a consistent close, reconciliation procedures, an exception tracker and written SOPs. The result is a framework in which exceptions are visible and ownership is clear, with a 60-day target for implementation. Read the case study.

500+ microsites: one reusable architecture on serverless infrastructure

Building each site by hand repeated development work and added infrastructure to maintain. I designed a reusable publishing system with block-based pages and serverless deployment that supports more than 500 microsites, and new website development takes less than one week. Read the case study.

I do not publish cloud cost-saving figures that have not been measured on a client's own spending.

What changes for your business

Leadership understands and can evaluate the technology bill, engineers have the cost context to make better architecture decisions, and each part of the spending has an owner. The work can include cost visibility by environment, service, team and purpose, optimisation where spending exceeds value, and governance that keeps costs rational as the organisation grows.

Where this leads next

Cost control depends on knowing what runs where, which is why FinOps pairs with infrastructure review and NOC monitoring. If your infrastructure is already documented, we can begin with cost attribution.
